Workshop clinics: Tips & Tricks of the Vinyasa-Style Practices

with Tania Jo Ingrahm

Saturdays: May 24, August 9, November 8, 2008 & February 14, 2009; 9:45 - 11:45 a.m.

This fun, quarterly series with senior teacher Tania Jo Ingrahm is for you if you've ever struggled with making your hop-throughs graceful, understanding the mysterious bandhas or creating heat in your body by using the ujjayi breath.

Each fun-filled two-hour session will include activities that will help you reach deeper into the vinyasa-style practices with more understanding and knowledge of how to accomplish each aspect of breath, movement and flow. Although each session has a theme, you can bring any of your vinyasa questions and get them answered. The clinics will be tailored to assist each group with their specific needs.

Saturday, May 24, 2008: Bandhas are Your Friends

Ah, the elusive bandhas...what are they, how do you access them and are they really necessary? Learn activities that will put you in touch with these "friends" of the vinyasa-style practices.

Saturday, August 9, 2008: Chakrasanas & Other Yoga Tricks

The transition move called "chakrasana" or "wheel" is a matter of knowing where to place your focus and how to set yourself up. That's true with other rather odd moves in yoga as well. Come learn the inside scoop of these strange and wondrous transitions.

Saturday, November 8, 2008: Floating, Hop-Backs and Hop-Throughs

If your hop-backs and hop-throughs look more like crash landings, then this is the class for you. What does it take to create the appearance of 'floating' through the air and landing softly? Come find out!

Saturday, February 14, 2009: Mastering Shirsasana

By now, you'll be ready to turn the world upside down with your understanding of the FUNdamentals of a vinyasa-style practice. Inversions are the most powerful category of asanas and shirshasana (headstand) is considered King. If you've already mastered headstand, come learn variations and other inversions that will keep you mesmerized for a long time to come.

These sessions can be taken independently or as a series.

COST: $20 for each two-hour session. You can register in advance or show up at the door. If you're registering in advance, please indicate which session you'll be attending.

Continuing Ed. credits: This workshop series offers 8 C.E. credits for Yoga Alliance-registered yoga teachers, or 2 C.E. credits per session.

All classes are held at our Kaimuki Studio.
