Taking Off with the Rocket Series

A Weekend of Workshops with Larry Schultz

Yoga Hawaii is pleased to be hosting Larry Schultz, creator of the Rocket routine, for a weekend of indepth workshops during May. "The Rocket" is a series of postures based on a modification of the traditional Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga intermediate series, to renew energy and vitality in the body. This vibrant routine is called the "Rocket" because, "it gets you there faster."

Friday, May 26; 6:00–8:00 p.m.

Intro to "The Rocket" series
All levels
This class will be an introduction to the philosophy of The Rocket with a focus on building healthy joints and enjoying the process of getting stronger. All levels of students are welcome.
Register for Friday, May 26 workshop; Preregistration: $30; Same-Day Registration: $40

Saturday, May 27; 8:00–11:45 a.m.

"The Rocket" series
Emphasis on techniques, hands and feet.
The Rocket is designed to awaken the nervous system, and infuse it with the precious prana it craves, while promoting a spirit of change and freedom of practice. Full of back bending and spinal twisting, this uplifting sequence of postures has gained global recognition as a “feel good” experience that opens the body and clears the mind. The Rocket breaks areas of tension and energy blockage, combating tendencies toward stagnancy and resistance in the body. Frequent hand stands and arm balances keep the energy level high and encourage students to connect to their inner power and change their view of the world. The playful and upbeat Rocket routine is the perfect counter to the soothing forward bending of the Primary Series.
Register for Saturday, May 27 workshop; Preregistration: $50; Same-Day Registration: $60

Sunday, May 28; 8:00–11:45 a.m.

"The Rocket" series, Part 2
Going deeper in this workshop, we'll included poses from the first, second and third series of the Ashtanga-Vinyasa system with back bending, spinal twisting, and arm balancing. We'll finish with a discussion of Ashtanga practice and philosophy.
Register for Sunday, May 28 workshop; Preregistration: $50; Same-Day Registration: $60
