200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training:
For the Japanese-speaking student

<Click here for a Japanese version of this page>

Offered for the first time in Honolulu, this yoga certification course, taught entirely in Japanese, is a rare opportunity to immerse yourself in the profound teachings of yoga and Ayurvedic Science—experiencing firsthand their ability to transform body, mind and soul.

This unique 200-hour course, directed by senior Yoga Hawaii teacher Rupali (whose teaching experience spans 20 years) and other Yoga Hawaii faculty, has a dual focus on yoga and Ayurveda, considered sisters sciences in India. You’ll learn about your own constitution or doshas, and how to eat to maximize the benefits of your practice.

Recently revamped to meet the new Yoga Alliance standards, Yoga Hawaii’s teacher training utilizes the postures from Ashtanga Yoga’s Primary series and interweaves daily Yoga Sutra study, building an integrated foundation for your teaching. All teaching methodology can be applied to any style of yoga you may choose to pursue, and successful completion of this course will qualify you for registry (200 hours) with the Yoga Alliance (www.yogaalliance.org), the international association of yoga teachers.

Course contents will include Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series asana technique, teaching methodology, anatomy and physiology, philosophy, ethics, how to live a yogic lifestyle and how to apply Ayurvedic principles to your yoga practice, teaching and life. We will elaborate with lots of hands-on work.

About the Teachers

Rupali

RupaliRupali, eRYT500, began her yogic journey by landing in an ashram in 1985 where she lived for six months to learn about the science of yoga and pranayama. She began teaching almost immediately upon returning home to Santa Barbara, CA, in order to share her excitement. That excitement continues to this day and has touched many lives.

Rupali is codirector and coowner of Yoga Hawaii, and is a certified Kripalu Yoga teacher. She has also trained extensively in the Ashtanga Yoga tradition, traveling regularly to India to study directly with Shri K. Pattabhi Jois of Mysore, India, and as well as studying with him on his U.S. tours.

She is registered at the "Experienced 500-hour level" with the Yoga Alliance, the international association of yoga teachers, and has also been initiated into the Reiki tradition. She holds memberships in the International Association of Yoga Therapists, the Yoga Research and Education Center, the Kripalu Yoga Teachers Association and the Hawaii Association of Fitness Professionals.

Tania Jo Ingrahm

Tania Jo IngrahmTania Jo Ingrahm, eRYT200, certified Kripalu Yoga teacher, was introduced to Kripalu yoga in 1988 by her Yoga Hawaii business partner, Rupali. The breathing and internal exploration of Kripalu Yoga proved to be a beneficial complement to her years of competitive triathloning and coaching.

Now focusing on Ashtanga Yoga and pranayama (breathplay) practice, she's known to be a "detail" person when sharing her passion for yoga and the wide-ranging benefits to body, mind and spirit. Melding her study of life sciences, yoga and sports has given her a unique perspective on the body and its ability to adapt and change. She continues to be a student herself, learning from her teachers, as well as her students. She is codirector, along with Rupali, of Yoga Hawaii.

Mandy Horst

With a bachelor's degree in communication and an extensive background in wholesaling, retailing and importing, Mandy Horst never knew that yoga was going to factor so highly in her future. Recently retired from her two local retail stores, she has become a yoga devotee due to its immense calming effects on her rather pitta personality.

She has studied Bikram Yoga for two years and Ashtanga Yoga for two years. "From the first asana, I knew my spirit was home," she says. "Every day I am enriched and humbled by these ancient practices." Her most recent area of study is Ayurveda Science, which she will present during Yoga Hawaii's teacher trainings. She is also in charge of logistics during the trainings.
